Our favourite things to do:

1. Go for a walk around the vines.
Walk out of the gate and turn right.  You will soon be walking with vines on both sides of the road. At the end of the street turn left and have a wine tasting! On the right is Vynfields who do great platters and tasting trays (in beautiful surroundings). On the left is Tirohana, also very nice.
Carrying on along the road you will pass (or go into) Christina and Ata Rangi. You will be able to pop into Schubert where they make fantastic sticky wine. Yum.
Margrain Winery is next, the Old Winery Cafe is great for lunch. Suitably fortified you will now be able to head up Princess Street where you have the option of several fantastic wine tasting opportunities. Muirlea Rise, Winslow Wines and Martinborough Vinyards.
Turn left on Kitchener Street and you'll be back in The Square.
Total Distance approx 3.5 km

2. Coffee in The Square

Walk out of the gate and turn left, then right. Less than 5 minutes. There are lots of options! Toppys is always good, but the Wine Centre and Medici are also favourites.

There are many lunch and dinner venues around the square from great budget fish and chips to gourmet delights.

3. The drive to Gladstone

Right out of the drive, left at the end then right at Margrain and you are on your way.

The road winds its way through delightful countryside and into the Gladstone valley where there are some fantastic emerging vinyards. Along the way you will see Stonehenge Aotearoa, Parkvale mushrooms and a trip into Gladstone is worthwhile if only for the Gladstone Pub!

4. Putangirua pinnacles
Drive towards Cape Palliser and on the way you will pass this hidden wonder which has been called "New Zealands answer to the Grand Canyon". Peter Jackson has used it as a set, few people know about it.
A half hour walk will take you into the Pinnacles, amazing.

Carry on towards Cape Palliser and you can stop for lunch in Ngawi which has the highest number of tractors per capita of any town in the world! To finish off you can go and see all the seals hanging out on the rocks and climb up to the Lighthouse (If you are fit!)

Some of the road is gravel but any car can do it!
